Sharjah Media City (Shams) honoured Emirates College of Technology at the 2nd edition of Sharjah Art Foundation’s annual film festival, Sharjah Film Platform (SFP), in the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, and leading dignitaries across the cinema, art and media industries.
Emirates College of Technology together with numerous participants completed the production of 29 feature films, all of which reflected the cultural splendour of the UAE. The resulting films enabled them to compete on a regional and international level. The technical team of Emirates College of Technology was behind the cinematic masterpiece, titled Under The Sun, directed by Asst. Professor Anas Al-Balawneh, alongside their brilliant graphics and design of Dr. Riyad bin Omar. The film was presented by a group of the college’s media students that include Rola Khair Hikmat, Hassan Al-Failani, Mohammed Wasfi Musleh, Lauren Shiha and Ali Fakhir.
Commenting on the occasion, Professor Suzan Al-Qalaini, Dean of the Faculty of Information at Emirates College of Technology said: “This honour was the culmination of the college’s path in building creative and distinctive competencies that possess theoretical, professional and research knowledge, technical skills, and ethical and professional values.”
She added: “The team at Emirates College of Technology are keen to support and encourage students to pursue their passions, help them unleash their talents and maximize their potential. The participation at this prestigious festival was an educative opportunity for our participating students, under the guidance and direction of our dedicated staff, who not only made a qualitative leap in the Arab art world but also contributed to building a local cinema in accordance to international standards.”
